Chax enhances iChat by simplifying its use and introducing new features to manage the application more efficiently. These enhancements include a unified contact list that consolidates all contacts from various accounts, notifications through email for new messages and status updates of other users, and the ability to automatically adjust the contact list size based on the number of visible users. Additionally, Chax allows for automatic acceptance of file transfers and provides access to logs to monitor contact status changes. Users can also keep their contact list, video conference calls, or shared screens in focus at all times. The Chax tab within the iChat preferences panel enables users to customize the application's settings to meet their preferences.
